Editor’s Note

We’re proud to present Strange Life, the inaugural issue of Windowsill. We set off on this journey with a desire to work with neurodivergent creatives, and to build a platform to amplify underrepresented voices and talent within the community. With the early support we’re receiving, we’re well on our way, and we’re excited for what’s to come.

It’s been an enriching experience engaging with creative nonfiction, poetry, and art from around the globe; and this issue features creatives from Botswana, India, Canada, and the UK. We’re grateful to our writers and artists, who shared themselves so generously through their contributions. Whether their work resonates with you or reveals new perspectives and different ways of being, we hope you’ll enjoy immersing yourself in Strange Life.

Strange Life will take you on a journey—from fighting yourself to fighting for yourself, from being disheartened by unfair comparisons to learning at your pace and stepping into your strengths, from minimising yourself to reclaiming space. We’re pleased to open this issue with creative nonfiction by non-speaking autistic writer and disability rights advocate Tarun Paul Mathew.
